Grown up spring break is a real treat when you sandwich skiing, shopping and scrumptious family lunches and dinners in between your little sister’s bridal shower and bachelorette party.
Slowly but surely, the snow melted away just in time to rock our spring looks at Katie’s shower. Mimosas and mouth-watering cookies over girl-talk and picture posing had the soon-to-be Mrs. Burgett glowing.
Us maids marveled over all of the bride-to-be’s great gifts.
Midweek, Dad played hooky and we snuck off for a day of [almost] spring skiing at Seven Springs. We inadvertently opted for mostly après skiing- the unexpected 4pm closing time had us hiking up to Helen’s for cocktails a wee bit early than expected!
The next night, it was Mom’s turn for celebration- she turned 50 (again)! The girls + Dad and Bri spied on the Cavs players strolling around at Adega over modern Mediterranean.
Finally, Kate’s b’lette bash arrived and the sisters headed to Hocking Hills. With a cozy cabin, great group of girls, and snacks, casseroles and wine to boot, we kicked off Kate’s last fling before the ring! Soon, Kate will be taking the plunge, so we thought it only appropriate to prepare her for this big leap of faith by jumping off platforms and zip lining through the trees of Hocking Hills. She handled it like a champ and we all filled up on adrenalin before our big night out.
Dressed up and ready to impress, we set off dinner at Rhapsody in the one-horse town of Nelsonville. I think our group possibly equated to the entire town’s population, it was like going back in time! The food was fabulous and this hidden gem hit the spot.On the way home, the twins indulged me with a stop at Denison. Walking around my old stomping grounds was a blast from the past. No trip to Granville is complete without lunch at Brew’s and a sweet treat from Whit’s. Full of wonderful memories, mom’s cooking, and an extra suitcase of Nordstrom goodies, I battled the inevitable snow storm that seems to pass through Chicago every time my flight is scheduled that way and miraculously made it back to London!
